Acupuncture Orthopaedics is a combination of Acupuncture & Physiotherapy. Taught by Dr James Lu, who is both an Acupuncturist & Physiotherapist. 

This course sets you up for being able to approach orthopaedic conditions from a physiotherapy perspective but be able to treat it with Acupuncture. 

You will learn how to interpret x-rays, perform orthopaedic tests, evaluate treatment outcomes, recognise red flags, advise on rehabilitation strategies and make clinical decisions based on this integrative approach.

1. Assessment of the musculoskeletal system

Assessment of the musculoskeletal system for soft tissue dysfunction, postural alignment, compensatory movement patterns and muscular integrity by using special tests, manual muscle testing, range of motion and movement patterns.

2. Use of TCM organ diagnosis and theory

After you learn how to perform and assess orthopaedic findings, take it to the TCM sphere. Learn how to apply TCM treatments to orthopaedic findings from x-rays and musculoskeletal testing.

7. Kinesio taping

Learn how to give them longer lasting effects by adding kinesio taping to your patients' treatments. Gain knowledge on how to tape, when to tape and what conditions to tape.

Effective postural exercises that combine with other protocols to help the practitioner get the patient out of pain and provide long-lasting results

Dr James Lu

Dr James Lu

DPT, LAc, OCS, MTC

Dr Lu is a direct disciple of Dr Zhu and a past director of Zhu’s Neuro Acupuncture & Rehabilitation Centre.

Dr Lu, a licensed Acupuncturist and Physical Therapist, has been in the medical profession for over 20 years.

He has worked as Director of Rehabilitation and Senior Physical Therapist in a variety of settings, including hospitals, rehabilitation centers and private clinics.

His primary experience has been in the realms of orthopedics, stroke rehabilitation, balance/vestibular disorders and pain management. Dr Lu holds a doctorate in Physical Therapy from The University of St. Augustine, and a Master’s of Science from The American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
