BECOME A CERTIFIED ZHU SCALP ACUPUNCTURE SPECIALIST
The Zhu’s Scalp Acupuncture Certification Program is an advanced study program conducted by ZSAREF in conjunction with the SustainHealth Academy
PURPOSE
The intent of certification is to provide the public assurance that a scalp acupuncture specialist certified by us has successfully completed an approved educational program and evaluation process, including an examination to assess the required knowledge, skills, and experience to provide quality patient care.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES
The Zhu’s Scalp Acupuncture Certification Program is an advanced study program designed for licensed acupuncture practitioners. Upon completion of the program, the graduates will be able to:
Utilise ZSA in Clinic
Utilise Zhu’s Scalp Acupuncture in their practice as a primary or complementary treatment modality.
Treat Diverse Range of Medical Conditions
Sharpen their diagnostic skills and develop efficient treatment plans for patients with a diverse range of medical conditions.
Achieve Fast & Long Lasting Results
Enhance the effectiveness of their treatments, achieving fast and long-lasting results.
Specialise in Stroke
Specialise in stroke, as well as other areas of emphasis in our program.
PREREQUISITE FOR CERTIFICATION
Knowledge in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture
Applicant must be knowledgeable in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture, with a solid background in both theory and practice.
Qualified Chinese Medicine & Acupuncturist
Applicant must have a valid license, as required in their states or countries, to legally practice acupuncture on another person.
Basics of Zhu's Scalp
Applicant must attend the Basics Module before he/she starts the certification program.
PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS
The necessary training required to become a Certified Scalp Acupuncture Specialist (CSAS) include reading assignments, workshops, internship and direct practical experience with patients.
Learning Modules
The principle of Chinese medicine is holism, hence a Certified Scalp Acupuncture Specialist should have a broad medical knowledge. Our program provides modular training in various fields. These modules offer Continuing Education Units for acupuncturists, subject to approval by the appropriate licensing boards. Student must complete all modules.
Each module consists of:
- Reading Assignments: To lay the foundation for a module, student has to read materials pertaining to the module’s subject. This will include related TCM theories, anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, etc.
- Workshops: Workshops focus on clinical skills. We provide demonstrations on real patients, hands-on practice opportunities, as well as case analysis. Students are encouraged to bring questions to the class or bring their own patients for treatment.
Internship
Students must undertake:
- 8 days of individual internship at Zhu’s Neuro-Acupuncture Clinic
- 7 to 8 days of group internship at a hospital in China
Final Evaluation
Final evaluation includes a written test and a practical session. We will assess the student’s ability to do the following satisfactorily:
- Demonstrate the ability to perform accurate diagnosis.
- Demonstrate Zhu’s Scalp Acupuncture needling techniques.
- Demonstrate the knowledge of scalp zone locations.
- Demonstrate the proper use of daoyin.
- Demonstrate the effectiveness of the treatment.
Certification
Upon successful completion of the program and passing the final evaluation, you will receive a Diploma of Certification and be granted the recognition and title of “Certified Scalp Acupuncture Specialist” (CSAS), as well as other rights and privileges awarded by ZSAREF.

Module 1: Basics of Zhu's Scalp Acupuncture Sep 2019

- Daoyin therapy demonstration & practice
Module 2: Neurological & Pain Disorders
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN FROM THIS COURSE
- learn the differential diagnosis as well as the effective management of pain and sensory disorders
- explanation the analgesic effects of acupuncture and the history and operation of acupuncture anesthesia
- learn how to identify the causative factors of any movement disorder and how to restore motor functions to normal
Module 3: Stroke & Spinal Cord Injury
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN FROM THIS COURSE
- how to identify different types of stroke
- how to localise the lesion of a stroke
- how to treat an acute stroke patient
- how to treat a chronic stroke patient
- how to help a stroke patient regain function
- how to integrate scalp acupuncture into multidisciplinary SCI patients program and help them obtain significant and much faster improvement
Module 4: Internal Medicine, Psychiatric, 5 Senses and ER - 4 Days
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN FROM THIS COURSE
This module focuses on the pathophysiology of the internal organs and the interrelationships of Zangfu with various bodily systems. Also, according to Chinese medicine, psychiatric disorders, cognitive impairments as well as problems of the five senses and the skin are associated with Zangfu.
This module will also discuss the treatment of common neurological diseases. In addition, you will learn how to diagnose and assess an acute medical situation, and how to provide urgent care using Zhu's Scalp Acupuncture and other means.
